Kayts Base Hospital
The Need
Kayts Base Hospital is located in the village of Kayts (ஊர்காவற்துறை Urkavarthurai) - a little west of Jaffna District, on Velanai Island near Karainagar. This hospital has been experiencing a growing number of outpatient and clinic visitors numbering close to 50,000 patient visits in a given year.
In order to continue serving the local village residents and other residents in Velanai and Karainagar, the hospital’s obstetrics and emergency departments have been in dire need of new equipment.
The Solution
With gratitude to the Sri Sathya Sai Community Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for their generous $15,000 donation, the following equipment was delivered to Kayts Base Hospital in January 2021:
Emergency Crash Cart
Electric Three Function Bed
Fetal Monitor

Adult and Paediatric Ambu Bags
Portable Suction Apparatus
Pulse Oxymetre (Covidien Nellcor Bedside SpO2 Monitoring System)
