Improving Gender Equality in the North and East Sri Lanka
Project Details
IMHO Canada was awarded a project called Improving Gender Equality in North and East Sri Lanka by Global Affairs Canada in 2019 and a contribution agreement was signed in early 2020.
The project is purely on the basis of humanitarian help and the assistance is offered on a non-religious and non-political basis to affected communities.
Acitivities include:
Counselling and Emergency support for women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence
Gender sensitivity and leadership training with selected community leaders in targeted villages in Northern and Eastern Province
Street theatre performances in Northern Province villages addressing gender equality
Marital counselling workshops on gender equality and intimate partner violence with men and women in Northern and Eastern Province

Funding Needs
Our partner organizations on the ground are:
Network for Advocating Requirements of women (New AROW) in the EAST
Kilinochchi Mental Health Society (KMHS) in the NORTH
IMHO Canada is expected to come up with our share of the funds for this project
